"Equality is the prime rib of America"

"She's not doing it to be rich, she's doing it to change the world." says Christopher Johnson, one of the many fans/supporters in the crowd for Lady Gaga; who protested at a rally in Portland, Maine on behalf of gays in the military. The "Don't ask, don't tell policy" is what Lady Gaga was fighting for the government to repeal. I like it when celebrities actually use their influence to do things that are beneficial to the world.  I completely agree with her and think it's one of the dumbest policies I've ever heard.
If someone is willing to go fight for our country, who the hell are you to tell them that they are banned if they don't hide the fact that they're gay?  Are people actually still that narrow-minded? iT's 2010 for god sakes. I looked further into this...(by google-ing Don't ask Don't tell) and found this on Wikipedia."the policy prohibits anyone who "demonstrate(s) a propensity or intent to engage in homosexual acts" from serving in the armed forces of the United States, because "it would create an unacceptable risk to the high standards of morale, good order and discipline, and unit cohesion that are the essence of military capability."   What a load of BS, seriously.  How about get rid of all the homophobes who don't respect those willing to fight for their country along side them.  Go GaGa, I hope this rally gets Washington's attention!

  1. I don't see the big deal on both sides of the spectrum. It shouldn't be a big deal if homosexuals are allowed in the military. But on the other hand they are accepted in, they just can't express or say they're gay; and that's not really hard to do, it's not like it's a secret, but how does that even come up in conversation? In the middle of a battlefield 3 soldiers are pinned up against a wall for cover during a firestorm, and one of them just says aloud "wow I could really go for some cock right now"... just doesn't make sense. There's no reason to say you're gay unless someone asks you if you are, just like there's no reason to say what city you're from or what religion you practice unless you're inquired. In reality, a good military would have a bunch of asexual atheist eunuchs, because they would have zero bias and no emotional connection with each other or anyone for that fact

  2. I also don't see the big deal on both sides of the spectrum. It shouldn't be a big deal if homosexuals are allowed in the military. I understand that it is wrong to not allow someone to express themselves or what have you, however, do we really need to know if you are gay or not? As long as you are a true fighter and a hard worker while in the Military, that is all I am concerned about. Not matter what, I will still support you 100%...gay or straight. I give ALL Men and Women soldiers credit for doing what they do.

  3. I completely agree. There is a huge problem with homophobia in this country and I don't understand why. If a gay man knows youre straight he's not going to hit on you or try and get your pants off. The government is treating them as if they're a different life form. Wake up cause they aren't. They are men and woman just like you and I. They have compassion for their country just as much as the most pro-American here. You could be the gayest of them all...hell if Ru Paul (the drag queen who sings "You gotta work, cover girl! work it girl) wanted to go to overseas and fight for our safety by all means send him. I support anyone who is willing to go over there and stare death in the face so I can sit here with peace of mind. Put them in uniform and let them show you that they can defend our country just as well, if not better than all of you.

  5. Jon Stewart put it like this and I completely agree.

"So the Army's multi-decade policy of discrimination against homosexuals, forcing them to live a life of secrecy and shame for the privilege of defending this country is an injustice! But not as unjust as the majority party attempting to limit amendments. Say, in the exact same way the Majority Leader Bill Frist did when he broke a Democratic filibuster of a bill to shield gun manufacturers from lawsuits filed by victims of gun crimes, with the help of one, say it with me, Susan Collins of Maine. Ah yes, are we run by assholes? Indeed."

  6. So i have been kind of a slacker with blogging but yesterday and today I posted two blogs about similar topics such as this and just saw your post now. I said the same thing in mine "Its 2010". I couldn't agree more. Havent we gotten past such ignorance as this? Obviously not which is tragic. I love Lady Gaga not just as an artist but as someone who uses their fame and voice for good. People listen to her and she gets attention for the right reasons and its about time the public has such an icon as her to do so.
